Q. How is the TYME Iron different from a flatiron?
A. The TYME Iron curls by heating and cooling the hair, flat iron curls are created through heat and tension.
With the TYME Iron you can curl from root to tip with ease.
You can achieve fuller big wavy curls. Jacynda has tried and cannot produce the same curls with any of her flat irons!
You can achieve more consistent curls due to the shape of the tool.
The TYME Iron gives you the ability to easily create many different variations of looks, anything from ringlet curls to big wavy curls as well as silky straight hair!
Many users, especially anyone who struggles curling with a flat iron, will find this technique is much easier to learn due to the design of the tool itself. Furthermore many will find they can create the styles faster than with a flat iron/curling iron/or a wand due to the ease of technique.
Jacynda has found when styling clients hair her wrist feels much better using the TYME Iron as opposed to a flat iron, she has also found much more comfort when curling her own hair! This is due to the fact that the twist is in the iron itself and not the wrist!
Q. Why only one temperature setting?
A. After years of attempting to teach clients how to curl with flatirons Jacynda found many of them were making simple mistakes leading to less than ideal results. The TYME Iron is made with made with gold plated titanium plates that glide easily down the hair and produce a higher negative ionic charge than ceramic plates as well as more efficient heat transfer to the hair. Negative ions neutralize positive ionic charge on the hair strands, all hair carries a positive electrical charge caused by dryness. This positive charge increases over time causing more hair cuticles to open creating ‘ragged’ unhealthy looking and feeling hair, smoothing down the cuticles with negative ions will seal in your hair’s own natural oils and moisture allowing the cuticles to lay flat and frizz free. An increase in natural oil creates more vibrant looking hair that is healthier, more manageable and full of shine!
The 400 degree heat setting comes from testing on many different types of hair and finding the best results came from this setting. Many people tend to use a heat setting that is much too low for their hair because they are afraid of heat damage, this in turn causes them to reheat/re-straighten/re-curl the hair when one exposure at the correct temperature and duration/glide time would actually result in less damage. So by simplifying this part of the equation people will naturally change the rate at which they glide down the hair, resulting in the proper amount of heat transfer to the hair. Titanium plates also produce a more consistent heat surface and a smoother glide than ceramic plates, allowing the user to easily glide the tool down the hair.
Because the heat is only on the hair for a short time, while the iron is gliding down the strand, the hair is actually exposed to heat for less time than with a curling iron. As a result the hair cools faster allowing the curl to set in. Many of our test subjects reported the curls lasted longer than normal. In one case, after our video shoot, one of the models went to another shoot the next day where her and the stylist were really sad they had to put her hair in a bun for the purposes of the shoot because the curls were still so pretty!

Q. Where was my iron made?
A. We have gone to great lengths to produce the highest quality product starting with the plastics produced in Colorado. The plastics are then shipped to an experienced manufacturing partner in Korea who will not only produce, but also assemble the internal components. From there, completed irons will be shipped back to TYME headquarters in Bellevue, Iowa.
Q. How much TYME will my iron save?
A. Due to the unique design of the TYME iron which allows you to curl from the root to tip, it is feasible to finish a style while listening to a couple of your favorite songs! Jacynda, the iron’s creator, now curls her long, thick hair in 8 minutes (unless you're looking at the picture on the back of the box where she took her tyme and spent 15 min) a process that once took over an hour before the TYME iron.
Q. Does the TYME iron have an automatic shutoff?
A. As a stylist and a Mom, Jacynda had an issue where she would turn on her iron and either tend to her kids or her clients. It was really frustrating when she would finally get back to doing her hair or go to do a clients hair and the iron had shut off by itself. Our goal was to incorporate a simple on/off switch, without an automatic shutoff making the whole process of curling or straightening your hair as efficient and enjoyable as possible!
